David Bowie
Aug. 17th, 2005 03:08 pmI was watching one of my old VHS tapes last night. It was a History of Rock and Roll, but done in a very professional manner. I think it aired on PBS back in 1995 or 1996. Anyhow, it was the epiosode on Theatre Rock. Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Glam Rock, and so on.
I was watching it and it was good. Was ok. Tape has held up well over the years.
Why had I never noticed how hot David Bowie can be?
It's passe, and many others have enjoyed him before me. I always liked Mick Ronson (Go Hull!) more, but Bowie struck me this time. I like this Ziggy stuff, and a few songs here and there, but for the most part the Diamond Dogs and Berlin stuff can go jump out the window. But he is awfully thin. And he had long flowing hair. Slighly effeminate and admittedly bisexual. Hmmm... Perhaps the loss of Uther's hair had affected me more than I had believed. Bowie kind of looked like someone else I know in a few photos. Not that I want to go there again, but it still looks nice.
Also - Launch MusicCast has been a lifesaver here on the job. Even if it is the free version. TK105 is good if you only listen here and there, but after a month of 8 hour days, Freebird starts to sound a little old. Susprisingly, the Roger Waters Fan Club radio station is pretty good. The Progressive Station is a pay channel, dammit. But the RW Channel is free and is very progressive in itself. LTE, Crimson, Yes, ELP, Zeppelin. It's a good mix. Listening to the CSNY channel now, though. A lot of Joe Walsh. It's another good one, but a little light on the British end of things. Would like to hear more of Whistling or Tales, and less CPR. I guess begger's can't be choosers. CPR is probably more valid than "Maker".
What I wouldn't give to have been born with a penis.
