New Worlds
Feb. 10th, 2008 01:14 amPerce's been talking to the media again. Sounding a bit too much like Bono - he's always been political, but it's just overboard these days. I don't mind a bit of mettle behind a tune, but to sing only politically motivated stuff... He can't really wonder why I don't even have copies of his last four or five releases, can he?
"I think that the time when music could change the world is past," he told reporters. "I think it would be very naive to think that in this day and age."
"I think the world today is a different place, and that it's time for science and physics and spirituality to make a difference in this world and to try to save the planet."
Unfortunately, I have to agree with him. Mimi Farina wouldn't have a chance in this new world. She didn't back in the day either, but with the lot of them together they might have change a few minds. Or at least got some people into action. Now... they're just a bunch of old idealistic hippies who've lost the plot. It's a shame 'cos it would be a better place if people would listen, but no one hears them anymore. Not the thing to do I guess. With so much media out there now, it's hardly surprising either.
And the Camden Market is burning. Lovely, eh? Hope it's an accident, 'cos that place is so magical and it would be a shame if someone did that on purpose. Again, that's the new world for you. At least the IRA had an idea they were going after. Crazily, perhaps, but there was thought there. Not just trying to get to their 19 virgins.
