Went back to the office today and fell right into things. I swear the place falls apart without me. I don't think the girls they have employed now have the initiative to do anything. I don't care if it's right or wrong, but for fuck's sake do *something*. It's not brain surgery, getting someone the wrong colour eyeglass frame while the right one is on backorder won't hurt them. Had a few machines I had to repair, still didn't fix one of them. Me thinks the hard drive the test results are stored on is fried. God only knows how they did it, but they did. The backup hard drive I jury rigged is intact and I can run off that for a while, but I really don't want to run without a backup. Gonna see about hardwiring a USB flash port onto it. Back in 2000 when I made it there was only IDE hard drives that would fit the amount of data the scan collects. Might have to disconnect the A drive, but has anyone seen a 3.5" disk in the last five years?

Steph grabbed me when I got settled in and gave me a big hug. It was nice. She's fighting with her husband and is just having a rough time of it all. He is/was a sniper in Iraq/Afghanistan and supposedly had it easier this time on his third tour (read: he came home sans fresh bullet holes) but mentally he's just off. Don't know if they can work it out, but they really are a lovely couple. Said she 'really really really' liked the singer she stopped out to see last time with us. Uh, yeah. Didn't expect her to recognize him, not her type of music at all. She does like the Journey & stuff they were playing, but not the metal that made him popular. She thought Joey was oriental. That right there's funny. She doesn't know what an A5 is, but she just knows she likes it. I'll turn her into an Anthrax fan yet.

Had a computer meltdown in my absence. Protools just does not like Vista. And of course, you can't just partition off Vista and run XP on a dual boot anymore, so we're kind of stuck. I wouldn't mind switching to a Mac for the studio, but William's been PC all the way back to the BBS days and just won't switch over. Had to wipe the drive and start from scratch. Just trying to get the VST and RTAS back is a nightmare.

My family might be coming to visit this weekend. Fun times. Might actually happen this time, we'll see.
