Time for more help.

William has decided he needs another companion and someone else in our family. We're looking at getting another Cocker because we like all the attributes of the breed (personally I'd go for a Collie, but we don't have the room). There are a few requirements:
  1. Has to be a rescue animal, no breeders

  2. No puppies. Every one else takes the puppies, we're looking for Adult to slightly Mature.

Not too bad, you'd be surprised to find there's only two dogs on Petfinder who come up.

Meet Davis.

He's a local boy, but not good with children, cats, or other dogs. Not a problem as we don't have any of those, but makes us worried he's a bit snippy. They don't list an age, but his eyes are bright and his teeth are clean. I'd place him maybe around 3 or 4. He's bouncy and lively in the video, but not overly much. He could work with William's back.

Meet Dorian.

He's my little heartbreaker. He's in North Carolina and it's a long way away and hard to get to him. Plus he's mature. If it was just me I'd go grab him, but William will get attached and be heartbroken again in a few years. I love giving older/mature dogs a good home, but I'm not sure it's a good match for William. The shelter says he's 7-8 years, but could be 'older', they don't know. Dorian is the guy we really wanted, we can tell it in his eyes.

I'd really love to be able to get Dorian, but NC is just so far away. And I don't want to replace Bob either, we're getting a dog because we miss having one, not to replace Bob. It's a hard decision. Emotionally, I want to get Dorian. There's that tug there. Davis is just... he'd have to grow on me. I don't want to be placing old feelings for Bob on Dorian. He'd be his own self.

So...
