Burn it Down

1. Power went out at the house at 6:30 this morning while I was getting ready for work. Turns out the mains into the house are fucked. Need new main lines and breaker box and everything from the telephone pole to the house has to be re-run. The outside of the house and the inside of the garage leading to the breaker box are burnt. Mr. Sparky (the company's actual name) is there now trying to pull permits and get shit fixed. Dunno if I'll have power when I get back home. At least I'm not dead. That would have sucked. This close tho.

2. Retards have collected their meager posessions. They made William and his bad back move it for them, as they were not going to move things on their own. At least they're out. Their stuff is gone. My part in their life is over and it's good to have the house back to ourselves. Had about 10 hours of alone time before the thing started burning.

3. Got mattresses ordered for Reet and Amy. Supposed to be here on Wednesday.

4. Probably more to say, but brain is kinda fried right now from almost burning alive and losing the house. Stuck at work too, which is hampering the repair efforts. William is managing well. He does step up sometimes.

5. Started ripping out the carpeting in the upstairs hallway. Nice plank underneath. Have to lay out the hardwood and install, but it looks like that will be put off a few days.

6. Dishwasher isn't installed yet either - again, delay due to fire. Maybe the guy will run a line to the dishwasher since he's there already.

7. Been reading a lot of House/Wilson since I got on that kick. Always good to find more fiction that I like. The Leppard fandom is pretty much dead and even the Met stuff has slowed up.

8. Can't make it to ten today. Just can't do it.

POWER

Electric is back on and safe for the time being. Need to sink another copper ground out in the back and tidy up a few things, but it's safe now. Updated to 2012 standards anyway. The guy (Matt) said our electric bill will probably go down a lot too. The old breaker was giving off a lot of heat instead of passing it straight through as electricity. At least it's running properly now and should be good for the next 20 years or so. Everything else is pesky. I can run 110. 220 I start to get nervous with, and I will not work on line strength. That's a fool's risk for the amateur.

Garage is torn up.
Kitchen is torn up - two dishwasher in the middle of the floor and the water to the sink is cut off.
Laundry everywhere
Floor upstairs still not installed

I need a bath. Been an oddball day.

This is what was inside the mains panel. I have a video of the actual mains hitting the panel and once you know what you're looking at it looks like death wrapped in black electrical tape. I should get the video up one day here soon.
