Blackberry Smoothie
Apr. 22nd, 2020 02:03 amPasta salad was alright but not worth sharing the recipe. Edible but nothing special.
Made rice krispie bars instead.
Made a blackberry/pineapple smoothie. That did come out spectacularly good. Wished it was thicker, but still good even a bit runny. Probably better for me than more soda as well.
125g blackberries - frozen
100g pineapple - frozen
125g plain yougurt
245g milk of your choice (I used whole dairy milk)
Optional: a bit of honey for sweetening
Blend blackberries, pineapple, yougurt, and milk in blender. Add honey if you want a bit sweeter.
Literally that's it. I'm hoping to switch more to this type of thing instead of Coca-Cola. The nutrition lady at the cancer center has been on me to eat more lean protein and dairy, so I can live with this. Might try swapping out some of the milk with heavy cream. Might be the thickness I'm looking for. Hoping this will keep me full longer as well, keep me away from the crunchy snacks I crave.
Also going to make some bread tonight. Not because of the lock down, just because it's time to make bread again. Was thinking cinnamon-rasin, but now I'm thinking just plain old Italian bread.
Grocery shopping is tomorrow. Need a lot of fresh produce. Lord have mercy on me. Going to try to get most of it at the Hispanic store. No way in hell I'm going to the Caucasian store.
