Homemake Pudding
Jun. 5th, 2020 02:32 amMade some chocolate pudding - not as in UK pudding, but a chocolate milk based confection. Tried adding some butter to it on advice. We shall see. Tasted ok while warm and seems to be setting properly but I've never added butter before.
Ingredients
1 1/3 cup (300g) sugar
2/3 cup (65g) cocoa
1/3 cup (40g)cornstarch
pinch of salt
4 1/2 (1L + a hair) cups milk
3-4 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
In a saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and cornstarch. Mix well. Add in cold milk, whisk until combined.
Increase heat to medium, stirring constantly until mixture reaches a boil.
Allow mixture to boil for 1 minute while stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
Allow mixture to cool completely, stirring occasionally to avoid a skin forming on the pudding.
Serve chilled or warm.
Note: Place a plastic wrap directly on the surface of the pudding while it cools to avoid a skin from forming.
Not much else. It's 2am and I'm finally awake. Just in time for everything to be closed and it's too dark to mow the lawn. Got the trash out at least and did some vacuuming. I think the problem's been having the beer with dinner when I wake up. I had a calzone tonight with a soda and I've been awake successfully. The other nights I've had a beer after waking up and I'd fall back asleep after dinner (breakfast). Time is odd when a day is 36 hours and bedtime is between 10am and 2pm.
Found an interesting recipe for Ginger Garlic Chicken Ramen that I might have to try. Have everything but the bok choy. Might get some tomorrow. It's a bit hot for soup, but I have he broth left over from that chicken I've got to use. It's always cold at night at work so I can just bring the big pot of soup and heat up a bowl. It's got to be good for me, better than microwave meals.
Oh, made strawberry shortcake and fresh salsa too. Minor things.
