Travis Scott
Nov. 6th, 2021 10:32 pmSo have to talk about the elephant in the room. The Travis Scott show. Wasn't there, didn't know about it, not really my thing. Saw the original gate crashing on the news. Meh, it's Houston, our residents are not much better than feral animals. Was working last night and had zero intentions of going.
Local News Story
Then we get a call from the Mass Casualty center about people heading our way. 4 blacks, 10 yellows, and lots of greens. All they said was it was from the Travis Scott show. No clue if something had collapsed or there was bad drugs, just that we were going to get a lot of people. We ramped up, had extra people come in, and... nothing. The county mass event bus never showed up. Guess they kept everyone downtown near the concert, which is good. There's literally the biggest medical center in the planet less than five blocks away.
For me and my work it was a non-event.
They're going to be talking about it for a long time though. Will it ultimately change anything? Likely not. Altamont, Cincinnati, & Roskilde never changed anything.
The causes are too numerous to list. I wish I could just say it was a crowd control failure or overselling or something simple, but it's not. Part of it is just the garbage humans who live here. I mean, my god. You see a golf cart/ambulance push through a crowd with someone in the back getting CPR and you decided to dance on the roof of it? Like WTF? Just human garbage. Same type of folk who shoot at you for driving on the freeway.
Disgusting
One of the people killed was ten years old. Another was a 9th grader who had just started high school.
Ever wonder what Rome looked like when it was crumbling? Lots like this probably.
