4th July

Dad and grandma arrived safely yesterday.  Went for supper at Canale's, forgetting there's no Italians in Ohio and they've no idea what to order.  It was good and grandma managed to eat not only an entire order of onion rings, but also most of her baked ziti.  Impressive for an old lady.

Dad called this morning - that oil stuff on the driveway from his car was not oil afterall.  It's brake fluid.  He's gonna go to Monror tomorrow and have it fixed.  Just a hole in the line somewhere, or a small crack.  Nut major, but nothing he wants to drive back to Ohio on.  Can't say I blame him.

Today is the parade for the 4th of July.  Reet's gonna call me and let me know if the kids are coming down.  After the parade is a cookout/anniversary party at Reet's.  Hopefully it won't get rained out, looks a little doubtful right now. 

Lin is still in hospital, she's feeling a little better and they're saying she'll prolly be released on Monday.  Thank God it's viral meningitis and not bacterial.  Her poor husband told everyone he was so proud that he did the laundry and ironed without ruining anything.  :)

Posted Chapter 9 - the one at the bar in Memphis.  Should start getting some good feedback on it.  I need constructive crit, not just 'when's the p0rn start d00z?' but it looks like I get either characterization critiques or general positive.  At least they're positive.  Don't know when I started caring so much about crit, never modivated me before.  Maybe 'cause the beast is already written and done...  Can't wait until further along, when I moved to randomly shifting POV and couldn't be arsed to fix/edit it.

Fireworks and Parade

Survived the day with Dad and Grandma.  Dad, Reet and I watched the parade.  Took an hour and a half - only thing that kept us alive was the breeze coming off the river.  Was about 90F and sun, with occassional thin clouds.  Reet burned her face, she's red all around where her sunglasses were.  I managed to avoid the sunburn somehow.  Must be the 15spf moisturizer I put on, but that gives me zits.  It's a trade off I guess.

After parade, went back to the hotel and picked up Grandma.  Out to Reet's for a small little cookout late lunch/early supper.  Ate the no-bake pie I made last night.  It was good.  Watched some History channel of the superDam on the Yangtzee River in China.  Went out to the stands on the lake, sat around and had an ice cream and watched the sun set.  Headed back to the hotel and watched the fireworks over the harbour.  Doesnt' sound like much, but it took up a whole day.  Billy met with us for supper, but cut it early cause he's been having horrific leg cramps ontop of his back problems.  So it's back to Doc Nupuff on Wednesday for him.  He's got some sort of chemistry imbalance, but he won't bring it up to the doc and I won't be there to make sure he tells Doc Nupuff.  Maybe I should send in a little note...

Gah, work tomorrow and it's already 11:30pm.  Man, it's stupid working Monday, having Tuesday off, and going back in on Wed.  Medicare, BC, and everyone else is gonna be closed, why tf should I have to be there?  My dad's gonna get his brakes fixed, so it would have been perfect just to hang out at the house and argue.
