Jan. 8th, 2009 10:30 pmSo, what a lot to say. I think I'm actually sober enough that I might remember to get a lot of it down this time.
- Olympia Studios in London is closing it's doors. Sad, sad, sad to see the old analogue studios drop one at a time. Sadly, it's not really the music business keeping their doors open, it's the commercial work. All that's being done now at someone's house with the horror of Protools and half a clue. No longer do you need a 2" tape machine and a trained tech with the test tapes who knows how to maintain it all and how things actually work, now you can just plug your USB mic into the computer and have it sound like shit. Aaah, the power of DIY. It was a black day when Muscle Shoals closed it's doors, this is just a kick to an already dying industry.
- Mensch says the Zeppelin reunion is off. God knows if we'll ever hear the real story, but Pagey can be a right bitch to work for, saying everything is crap and approving none of it. So... don't know on that one, don't hold your breath. Doubt I'll hear much more on it, that camp is notoriously closed-lipped.
- Odd story about the asshat doc today. I gave him his new pair of glasses he ordered yesterday. He's on the board of one of the big insurance companies, so he always gets their new products to try out. Anyway, so he got that insurance's glasses, had them fitted, everything. I come in this morning and he says he needs them fixed. I figured he was wrestling with the dog or got hit with a shovel while plowing, something. But no, he admitted his wife punched him and broke them. They were all messed up, twisted, big chip out of one lens... Just great. His wife is only about 5' and all of 90 pounds but feisty Italian. I wish they would just get divorced already. It's dragging all us office girls into it and making a big mess.
- Babzz - Good god woman, you work fast. Grab on with both hands and don't let go.
- Had to walk to work this morning, or run really. Couldn't get the car out of the driveway so just left it and hot footed it. Got some pretty bad windburn/mild frostbite. It'll heal up but I don't have to put on blush for the next few days. Almost had my first asthma attack in a long time as well. Managed to stave it off but it was scarier than hell. Ended up wheezing and coughing up all sorts of gunk.
- 18 years is a long time. Such a waste, and utter waste...
Tired now. Think I'll head into bed early. Gonna snuggle up with William, we've been getting along together really good today for some reason.
