Goodevening Philadelphia!
Feb. 7th, 2009 05:11 pmThis morning I was at home. Finally managed to get the car into a repair shop. Whilst it was being worked on Dave(Derek) called. Dave is Jim's brother, so it was a bit odd to hear from him, but not too off the wall. He starts in with all the 'how are they' crap and how's the weather. Starts asking me what I was doing last year and scratching around, making me suspicious with all the questions. He dropped it on my finally - Can I be in Philly? Yeah, I tell him, figuring like next weekend or in a few months or something. No, he meant tonight. Errr... By this time the counter monkey at the repair shop was looking at me quite weird, prolly not used to a chick going off about truss capacities, soldering, humping cases... And I'm sure Dave was a bit worried with the garage noises in the background and the cavernous tone - must have sounded like I was already working.
Anyway, long story short is the repair got finished by 10am, I grabbed a change of clothes and made it down to Philly. I have to tell you this town sucks ass in the snow. The traffic is just horrible and no one knows how to drive. Or walk. But there is plenty of only slightly old pizza for dinner and free beer. Have never worked with this group before, should prove interesting. I'll have to pay attention again. I got lazy working with Russ again, I think I could mix them in my sleep now.
Have talked to Andy and that has calmed me down a lot. Oddly, the day after I talked to him I get one of his acrylic displays in at the office. The Carrollton return address gave it away.
Babzz is going really well for herself, and I couldn't be happier for her. Wish she had someone else paired up with her, but she's a good head on her shoulders.
Even managed to talk with my dad. He's well. Went and saw an American Football game with my brother Dave a few months back. I really should keep in touch with him more. We made tentative plans for him to come visit in Late July if I'm on break. He doesn't want to go to Oklahoma with me. :(
Ade and Terri had their twins. One boy and a girl, Kai and Taya respectively. I think Skyla's not gonna take it well. :(
Wes and Kerri are pregnant with twins. Seems to be the year of twins. They are the last people who need more kids, aside from that lady that just had the octuplets. Not my life choice, but they're having trouble making ends meet as it is.
I've spent almost my entire dinner break on this damn computer, I'd better get off.
