Ice capades
Feb. 17th, 2008 09:39 pmSo, day was going well. Had picked William up from the VFW and he was taking a nap, listening to Listen365 (my new fave radio station), and working on my book. Got about four pages of really good intense plot stuff written. Lasagna was bubbling away in the oven.
Things were great until Basil said he had to go potty.
William woke up grumpy 'cos Basil was barking. So I closed out the wordpad and broke my lucky streak with writing. Got Bob outside to potty. He's old and a bit decrepit, so I was helping him down the stairs when the ice from the roof gave way. It fell about fifteen feet to land on me. Probably about 500 pounds of ice, right on my left thigh. Bob is ok, I pushed him out of the way when I heard the crack of the breaking ice.
It's not broken. I can put a bit of weight on it, although the bone might be cracked. If nothing else it's bruised down to the bone and I've done massage damage to the muscle. If I had been standing upright I would have lost me left arm. If I had been six more inches left I never would have known what happened. I'm lucky I didn't break my leg as it is. There's going to be a fucking massive bruise, it's already raised about two inches. Once the colour starts coming in I'll get a photo of it.
Andy, you reading this? I think one leg gets me about 33% of both ankles. So rock and roll, aren't we? Injured at home.
Back to hopefully capture the magic I had working on my book earlier. Really must find some sort of handle for it. Even the girl's name is just a temp name until I can find something that fits. This world building stuff is harder than it looks.
And have found this one for fun. It's awesome!
