Riding the Storm Out
Aug. 26th, 2017 01:18 amSitting here as Harvey blows through. Not bad where I am, just like a big old soaker rainstorm. Bit of a breeze but nothing like what the coast is getting. Poor Dee had to evacuate, God only knows where she ended up. Alls the same, we're stocked for most weather emergencies after living through the ice storm of '03. Still ended up going to the store for some routine stuff, veggies and fruit and sale items. Crackheads grabbing toilet paper like it's going out of style. Like how much do you really plan on shitting in the next week? Did you not have any previously? Idiots. The media spreads the panic an suddenly there's a run on poptarts and bananas. South of us where it came inland, yes, stock up and prepare. You had a week's notice, it's not like an earthquake or tornado. The rest of us? Use common sense. Even if you eat canned beans for a week you're not gonna die.
Working on some tracks again, not my type of thing but in the other way this time. Too many blast beats that came already compressed to hell. I swear the waveform looks like a 2x4. Gonna work on them until the power gives out.
Put on the A Team at work, the ride the storm out crew. Don't have to go back in until 6pm Saturday, and might get stuck there if it all floods, so I'm packing a rucksack and dumping it all into a space saver bag for dryness. Even if I have to swim to work, I can grab a towel and be dry in half an hour. They took out the cafeteria in the clinic, so more canned goods and fruit. I can always put the cans back if I don't need them. Not much worse than trying to live off of ER peanut butter and graham crackers.
Got a lot done today after work. Got out before most of the rain started coming through, and I'm trying to flip back to night shift, so staying up. Got the floors done, laundry and dishes done, one dog washed, laundry put away. Didn't get to making the rye bread yet, maybe later. One more track I really want to slog through and then it's a good stopping point in the tracks.
