12 hrs post vaccine
Dec. 17th, 2020 07:54 am12 hours post vaccine and nothing yet. Feel like I've been punched in the arm, but I've slept wrong on my arm before and had it feel much worse. No allergies or Bell's palsy or anything fun to report. Pretty boring and it was all handled with military precision. First of all, due to distancing everyone had to get an appointment. Got assigned a chair, got my shot, waited for 15 minutes for med time (waiting to check for reaction), and then I was on my way. The only thing I think they could really improve on is because COVID is oral-nasal infective, to switch to a sugar cube delivery like Polio used to be. But then we'd get the jerks complaining they don't consume white sugar or some nonsense. IM is just not quite as effective at getting where the virus lives. It's still better than nothing, but my guess is if this sticks around it'll transition over to a nasal spray or something down the line.
Work Xmas party is today. They're officially banned by the hospital, but since all of us night shifters are exposed to each other anyway (surgical masks don't do shit when you're huffing and puffing during CPR) we're doing it. Gift exchange should be fun and I'm looking forward to just getting out for a bit. Pot luck suppers have also been banned, but I've got bad news for management... We don't all get catered lunches in. Especially on night shift.
Today's agenda is to bake some cookies and get back on a night shift schedule. It's 8am and I'm wide awake. Not good.
