Panic Number
Mar. 9th, 2006 01:53 pmRead about Panic Number in SOS this month. Liked the basic sound of the band, and appreciated the remixes SOS did for them. They've got a good foundation for a band, but... They seem to be missing something. I can do without the tocatta and fugue - not many groups master that anyway. The recordings still seem, flat almost, even running the entire track through the exciter on my end. It's that 2000's flat, like the bandwith has been knocked off and mixed to the middle. They could be good. Will they be great, no. They could do better perhaps with time. I didn't care for Travis when they first came around in the mid 90's either.
The guitarist is rather hot. Looks like a northern Pagey. And the drummer looks all of fifteen. If you're near Somerset, pop in and see a show. Looks like they draw a moderate sized crowd in a good sized pub.
New want of the month: TC Voice Pro. A steal at only $3495USD. Not that I have seperate components to worry about displacing. This would be perfect. Just what I need, and all in one box too. The demo was awesome; sounded good without much tweaking. The gender change was a little unsettling-unpleasant but with the right voice it might be great. Dolly Parton's got a great man's voice, actually. I should run some of her stuff through the board tonight for a kick.
